D01 ARRIVE/ CEBU/ ICEBREAKERS/ PREPARATION OF EXPEDITION (D)

Arrive in Mactan-Cebu City International Airport. Proceed to Boys Scout Camp (500 meters North of Philippine Taoist Temple, Lahug Area) for orientation and briefing. Dinner. Rest for the night

D02 SKILL INPUT/ BRIEFING/ MARIBAGO/ SEA EXPEDITION (B/L/D)

After breakfast proceed for briefing – learn how to paddle their way to Olango Island (which is Southeast of Mactan Island) and other island crossing. Begin the expedition – start with Maribago, Mactan Island for channel crossing, in between Karancho Beach Resort and EGI Resort. It is generally a jump off point to any of the smaller islets that ring the island city of Lapu-Lapu and municipality of Cordova. From here, we proceed to Olango Island Bird Sanctuary, one of the seven best-known flyways in the world for migrating birds. Its main attraction is its 920-hectare Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary, a haven for migratory birds from Siberia, Northern China and Japan. These birds flock to the island seeking refuge from the winter climate of other countries. The sanctuary supports the largest concentration of migratory birds found so far in the Philippines. There are 97 species of birds in Olango, 48 of which are migratory species, while the rest are resident birds of the island. The birds use Olango as a major refueling station as well as a wintering ground. The birds stop by the island on their southward journey to Australia and New Zealand and on their journey back to their nesting grounds. Among the frequent guests are Chinese Egrets, Asiatic Dowitchersm Eastern Curlews, Plovers, Sanpipers, Black Tailed Godwit and Red Knowt. (It is best to visit Olango around the months of July to November just in time for winter in the north)

D03 ISLAND BANGKAING (OUTRIGGER BOAT) OR KAYAK/ FISH SANCTUARY (B/L/D)

After breakfast, proceed for Island Bangkaing. Continue our ocean journey on an outrigger boat or a kayak to the Hilutungan Island Marine Sanctuary. One of the oldest in the area, protected area provides an undisturbed habitat for various marine species to feed and reproduce, allowing fish populations to grow dramatically.. The Hilutungan Marine Sanctuary is home to tens of thousands of fish. You will likely see damsel fish, anemone fish (nemos), parrot fish, and a school of large batfish- just to name a few.
Arrive at Pandanon Islet – the beach is perfect for all kinds of beach activities. Explore the surrounding azure waters.

D04 FULL DAY KAYAKING ACTIVITIES (B/L/D)

After breakfast, depart from Pandanon Island pick up point via kayaking. Back to main land.

D05 HIKING/ RIVER TRACING (B/L/D)

Morning call. Breakfast and changeover of activities to hiking & river tracing. Mt. Manunggal (40km from Cebu City) is the going to site being hiking/trekking from the foot at Tabunan which is 3km from where we will be doing our river tracing at Masaba River. Set up camp and prepare for dinner.

D06-07 SUMMIT CLIMBING/ SOLO ACTIVITY (B/L/D)

After breakfast, break camp and proceed for backpack climbing at 1000 meter summit – Mt. Manunggal. This ascend would usually take at between 4-7 hours of climb, depending on what your physical conditioning is. Upon arrival at campsite, set up camp. Solo for overnight (reflection sharing) – students will be given time to reflect on their own on what the experience have taught them. Reflect on how this journey be meaningful, in connection to their personal journey in life.

Next day, break camp and start our descend.

D08-9 FULL DAY CIP ACTIVITIES (B/L/D)

Proceed for our 2 – day service learning activities at Cambagocboc Elementary School. On the last day, transfer to City to return to base and clean up

D10 URBAN HERITAGE HIKING/ DEPARTURE (B/L)

After breakfast, proceed for our Urban Heritage Hiking – we have an option if the group would like to tour the city through guilded city hiking. Pack up and depart for flight back home.
